Starting off your home buying search can be stressful and come with many questions. One of the key places to start your journey is with an experienced agent. We sat down with a couple of Wilson Group agents, who specialize in the buying process, to share some initial questions they hear buyers ask and let you in on some advice based on experience in the industry. 

What is the first thing buyers usually ask or are concerned about when starting their buyer’s journey? 

Mian: “They always ask for down payments, and we dispel the myth that you need 20% down often. They also ask about the timeline and when their first mortgage payment is, which is often a big relief.”

Steve: “The question I get asked about most is how to get an offer accepted in this market.

It is important for me to explain how you can strengthen your offer other than $$$. There are lots of ways to do this.

• Inspection contingency ( there are a few levels of inspection that you can choose without waiving it completely).

• Mortgage Contingency (Same as above...there are variations of waiving without waiving completely).

• Down payment amounts both at offers and at P&S, in addition, the traditional down payment with the lender.”

What are the most important things to know when starting your search for a new home or first home to purchase? 

Mian: “A big tip we tell them is don't be shocked if you fall in love with a home right away. Most buyers have been surfing the web and therefore have "seen" many homes and usually know what they want. So I always set the expectation that you might find THE ONE sooner rather than later!”
